Ashtanga & Mindfulness Workshop

We warmly invite you to a unique workshop that combines the disciplined practice of Ashtanga yoga with the calming presence of mindfulness, led by Miłka Hutna. This workshop is designed to approach the care of body, mind, and spirit in a gentle and balanced way, offering a space where the practice becomes both support and daily therapy.

Ashtanga yoga is traditionally known as an intense practice requiring great strength and discipline, often practiced 6 days a week. While this can be inspiring, is it sustainable throughout all of life's challenges? This workshop will explore how to continue practicing Ashtanga during tough days, injuries, or intense periods in your personal or professional life.

Workshop Focus:

  • Gentle Ashtanga Practice: We will delve into the gentler side of Ashtanga, emphasizing self-care and understanding what we are experiencing and feeling. The practice will be adapted to serve you, providing support and daily therapy rather than adhering strictly to the traditional intensity.

  • Mindfulness Integration: Through mindfulness techniques such as breathwork, meditation, and body awareness, you’ll learn to bring presence and calm into your Ashtanga practice. This approach allows you to step onto the mat daily, but without expectations, treating your practice like a mirror reflecting where you are today.

  • Daily Self-Compassion: Milka encourages practicing with acceptance and compassion for yourself, doing what serves you best on any given day, and being grateful for the opportunity to connect with yourself each day.

What Will the Workshop Include?

  • Tea ceremony

  • Mindfulness, meditation, and pranayama techniques

  • Mindful movement – the practice of mindfulness in motion

  • A modified Ashtanga practice (suitable even for the toughest days)

  • Guided relaxation

What Will You Gain?

  • Learn various methods of listening to yourself with tenderness and love.

  • Develop the ability to assess what your body and mind need each day to feel harmony.

  • Gain the skills to modify your Ashtanga practice based on your emotional and physical state, as well as the time available.

Who Should Attend?

This workshop is for everyone—both experienced yogis and those just beginning their journey or simply interested in exploring yoga. It’s ideal for anyone looking to deepen their practice, find balance and peace in daily life, and learn to listen to their body and mind with love and compassion.

Teacher: Milka Hutna

Milka Hutna, a biologist by training, has been passionate about the intersection of body, breath, and mind through yoga and meditation for many years. Her journey with Ashtanga began 12 years ago, and she has been teaching yoga in London for over 7 years. As a certified RYT 200 teacher currently finishing her RYT 500 certification, Milka has studied with many renowned teachers and regularly practices in Mysore under the guidance of Sharath Jois, , who has given her his blessing to teach this traditional practice.

As a yoga teacher and mother, Milka creates a space for students to explore their practice not just physically but also emotionally and mentally. She encourages each student to understand that their practice belongs to them and that, ultimately, everyone is their own guru.

SUNDAY ASHTANGA IMMERSION WITH MILKA

During this workshop we’ll focus on ways to find a balanced and holistic way to practice, which will suit your body and mind. Ashtanga Yoga is often considered an intense style of Yoga, but the truth is that practiced with a correct approach it is suitable for anyone, no matter your age, weight or flexibility.

The workshop is appropriate both for regular practitioners and total beginners. A great opportunity to go deeper into the Yoga practice, taking it to the next level. Traditional Yoga aims for the practice to become more than just the physical exercise, but a meditation, connecting the body, mind, and breath.

We will take a look at ways of practicing Ashtanga Yoga that go beyond the physical, with a deeper focus on Pranayama. How can we use pranayama breathing techniques as a way to set up a meditative practice?

During the workshop we will start with the standing sequence of the Primary, followed by a sitting practice, pranayama and a long relaxation in Savasana. We’ll finish the workshop by sharing a cup of tea & refreshments.

ASHTANGA YOGA – A MOVING MEDITATION

A great opportunity to go deeper into the Ashtanga practice, taking it to the next level. Traditional Yoga aims for the asana practice to become more than just the physical exercise: a moving meditation, connecting the body, mind, and breath.

Following the traditional Ashtanga path, we will learn about the Tristhana method, or the method of three: breathing, posture, and gazing point. We will analyse each asana, learning how to breathe and move in the vinyasa method and taking a closer look at the proper alignment, finding stability in each posture.  After the workshop you will be able to approach each asana with a feeling of comfort, safety, and stability; your breath will be able to flow smoothly, and your mind will be ready to find the meditative state.

The workshop will focus on postures from the primary series, appropriate both for regular practitioners and total yoga newbies.
